YES THERE IS A DIFFERENCE!
SLEEPING MASK = NIGHT CREAM WITH SUPER POWERS
They contain all of the nourishing and incredible hydrating ingredients of a night cream plus serum-like abilities to repair and brighten while sealing in all the treatments from the serums you layer underneath. Most sleeping masks are primarily intended for overnight hydration, which is excellent for providing deep moisture that leaves skin radiant and fresh in the morning. It do not contain any harsh active ingredients that would cause moderate to severe irritation.
SO WHAT’S THE DIFF?
Well it all comes down to the formula, really. Most sleeping masks tend to contain more intense hydrators in combination with anti-aging or antioxidant ingredients and they’re often in gel-like formulas to enhance the penetration of the active ingredients to maximize overnight benefits.
Night creams, on the other hand, are usually packed with vitamins, your skin-soothing, hydrating, and protective ingredients so as to act as a barrier for the skin to nourish and moisturise but not as powerful like a sleeping mask that can make up for your lack of sleep.
Well, both are good for you, if we put it simply… Day moisturiser is the lightest then sleeping mask will be the most power pack. Your night cream provides you with your nightly dose of hydration, but you might want to reach for a sleeping mask once or twice a week if you’re looking to add in extra benefits like brightening, anti-aging or for those days where you’re lack of rest.
