This may be a contrary to all beauty blogs that you’ve read. But this is me talking.
I feel that this is important to all the ladies than anything else out there. I always love doing make up as the work of art. To be the medium to enhance and perfect the face or character that it should be. But there’s something that I’ve realised the past years that I haven’t been addressing at all.
I’m not sure about you but I’ve been through the phase of body shaming where I would browse through my Instagram feed and look at certain woman and feel bad about my body. I will compare everything from how I look physically to the way they dresses up. It felt awful and it definitely makes me feel more than depressed about my own body than ever.
FOLLOW PEOPLE WHO INSPIRES YOU TO BE A BETTER PERSON.
Instagram is a great part of my life, I like browsing it to look out for places to visit and read about those amazing travel stories some Instagram user experienced. It really wasn’t the diet, exercise plan, gym membership or mentor. The changes started out first by filtering who I follow on Instagram and in fact, it was the only one thing I did which took me an hour to finely curate the people I follow that inspires me. So, I did myself a favor to unfollow all of those that doesn’t line up to my calling and followed feeds of people in different shape, sizes, races and religions. The vibrancy of celebrating lives in different phases added variety to the images I’m browsing daily.
Somehow it changes the way I looked at my body and it affected everything that I do. The way I eat, how I work out, the types of clothes I’ll wear and how I relate with people out there. I didn’t realise the changes till my friends started commenting on the glow on my face. Which got me thinking, how did I really end up here?
FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOU’LL LOOK GOOD
Well I firmly feel that it is due to the change of direction that I’ve put into my daily life, I tweaked a little as each day passes by. Now I read a lot on travelling, read a lot about people and their ambitions, their lives and not about if they were pretty enough. It wasn’t really conscious until I think back on how good my newsfeed made me feel to scroll and read stories about people instead of objects. Now, I look better than ever not because of the diet or flat tummy fitsporation but because I figured that the main aim to healthy happy living isn’t all about body image but rather to sincerely enjoy the vibrancy of where life can take you, the love you have in nourishing your body with fresh food and adequate amount of work out sessions and most importantly, the self-acceptance you have for yourself for deeper reasons like ” I’m doing it because this is who I am” rather than succumbing to social pressures of who you are not.
SELF CARE IS A DIVINE RESPONSIBILITY
So, do it because that makes you who you are. Enjoy the process and be okay with it.
YOU DESERVE TO LOVE YOURSELF.
